Alizee Paradis

Alizee Paradis has managed to get herself nominated as the hottest female NCAA athlete of the decade: not all that difficult a thing if you recall that beauty and skill at anything seems to be negatively correlated.

OK, that's actually being a little unkind but the real reason that this tennis player seems to have been nominated is that she likes to be photographed wearing fairly brief bikinis. A thing that we fully support attractive young women doing of course but perhaps not the most unique of skills.

If you want to find out more you can either visit her site or see the nomination site.

10% off the top of anything

That's O'Rourke's Law of Circumcision, that you can take 10% off the top of anything.

The question is though, is this actually a good idea? There's certainly some health benefits, as researchers in Africa are finding. It most certainly reduces the incidence of HIV.

However there are others who think that the decreased sensitivity of men after circumcision is a problem. But if you click through one of the links above you'll fin a very interesting argument which puts forward the proof that this is itself a good thing, now a downer.

Ms. Morse

No, this isn't a new version of Inspector Morse featuring a compley maiden, rather, we've found out the name of the comely blonde who's been escorting Alex Rodriguez around town:

Joslyn Noel Morse.

Something that does rather puzzle me though. Given that she's been working in strip clubs for the past 12 years, why would she visit one on her night off?

Opie and Anthony

This really is weird, this story over Opie and Anthony:

Add Opie & Anthony to the growing list of shock jocks who have behaved badly enough to warrant silencing. But at least the duo has the distinction of being the first to be bounced from satellite radio, where government rules restricting raunchy content do not apply.

In an ironic twist, XM Satellite Radio said Tuesday that it has suspended "The Opie & Anthony Show" for 30 days, though the pair will still do their program on CBS Radio, where speech codes are far more stringent than they are on pay radio.

Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia first raised the ire of listeners when they broadcast May 9 the rantings of a character they call Homeless Charlie, who fantasized about having violent sex with Laura Bush, Condoleezza Rice and Queen Elizabeth II.

They apologized two days later, but on Monday they called on their competitors -- most notably, Howard Stern -- to join them in defense of the right of shock jocks everywhere to be, well, shocking.

"Are you with us or against us?" they asked, referencing such recently fired radio talkers as Don Imus and "JV and Elvis." Then they told listeners that while they didn't have the FCC restricting their language, they still must follow XM's "dumb rules." That apparently was too much for XM to take

Just remember, pissing off hte management is much worse than anything else you can do.

Palm Takeover

So it looks like Palm is going to be sold:

Palm Inc. (PALM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) could be sold for at least $20 per share this week, and private equity firm Texas Pacific Group and at least three other bidders are interested, according to unnamed sources cited by technology news Web site Unstrung.com.

Texas Pacific declined to comment. A spokeswoman for Sunnyvale, California-based Palm, which makes the Treo smartphone, was not immediately available.

Sources have previously told Reuters that Palm hired Morgan Stanley to pursue a buyer.

Other bidders may include Nokia (NOK1V.HE: Quote, Profile, Research) or Motorola Inc. (MOT.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the site said. It also said there was speculation that private equity firm Silver Lake was interested in Palm.

The one thing the report doesn't say is why? For strategic reason? Or are the current owners just bored of it and want out?
